A TOUR OF TOURS 'The Levitan Home' - Lifestyle Magazine
|
|
By Aaron Collins
In or out? The Levitans’ Visalia home reflects a growing
trend
toward transitional entertainment spaces that are technically outdoors,
but have the feel of an interior family room.
Dr. Dean and Cheryl Levitan’s new home didn’t just knock us out (“Frank
Lloyd Wright in Shades of Green, 2007). The Wright-influenced
home and Lifestyle’s coverage of it bowled over the Central California
region judges who awarded the piece two Gold Medals at the 2008 ADDY
Awards (the ADDYs are the advertising and publishing industry’s
equivalent of the Oscars). The ballroom dancing couple is no
stranger to awards, having won a few trophies for the sport. And
evidence of their love of ballroom is not only visible within the home,
it’s part of the home itself: Their regulation-size ballroom
dance floor occupies nearly the entire second floor of the sizeable
structure. But despite its size, the home is so energy efficient
that it, too, likely deserve an award.
